Pies pinched!

Recent stories

Shari and Wes Hughes have been shocked by the brazen robbery, saying it’s unprecedented for the small community of Greenmount.

The offender was clad in a cardigan and beanie, with a torch and an accomplice in the form of a very well behaved dog.

The dog patiently sat and watched as its owner casually stacked up what they wanted from the Blossom Café’s morning delivery and wandered off as if they might have been picking up their own delivery.

Owners Shari and Wes Hughes posted security camera footage of the pilferer, pining over the pies, to Facebook, after which the pies were returned.

Not that they could sell them.

The offender took about 15 pies, sausage rolls, biscuits and cabana rolls, an estimated $250 in retail value lost for Shari and Wes.

“It’s made us think about how we’re going to do things,” Wes said talking about how unusual this is for Greenmount.

“It’s really sent shockwaves through the community, everyone was quite shocked.”

The owners of Blossom Café and Post have decided not to report the alleged theft to the police, hoping that the public response might have been enough to steer the pilferer away from future early more pie-scapades.
