Hogan: does it again

Recent stories

Kevin Hogan has retained the electorate of Page for The Nationals following the 2025 Federal Election, which was dominated by a landslide victory to Labor with Anthony Albanese returning for a second term as Prime Minister of Australia with a majority government.

Describing himself as very humbled to be re-elected with an increase in his primary vote, Mr Hogan is commencing his fifth term as the Federal Member for Page following previous wins in the 2013, 2016, 2019, and 2022 Federal Elections.

With his family, friends, team, and supporters by his side, Mr Hogan celebrated his re-election at La Baracca, a family owned and operated café/pub in Lismore and extended his sincere gratitude to everyone who supported him throughout the 2025 Federal Election.

With the Coalition he represents facing the next three years in opposition once again, Mr Hogan remains steadfast in his commitment to ensuring the voices of regional communities are heard in Canberra and said he will work with the Albanese Government while continuing to advocate for the best interests of the residents of Page.

In a statement released online, Mr Hogan said “there are many challenges we face but I am always optimistic about our future due to the character of the Australian people.”

After thanking his family for their love and ongoing support, Mr Hogan also acknowledged the other candidates, referring to them as “a great and interesting group of people who reflect our wonderfully diverse community”, and told the Clarence Valley Independent he received correspondence from the Labor candidate for the seat of Page Wendy Backhous who respectfully conceded to the sitting member.

Speaking with the Clarence Valley Independent following the 2025 Federal Election, Ms Backhous said she enjoyed a positive experience after being endorsed as the Labor candidate for Page earlier this year and revealed she was extremely happy to see Mr Albanese return as the Prime Minister of Australia after Labor secured a majority government with more than 80 seats.

Ms Backhous said she was not surprised by the landslide victory and said Labor went to the people of Australia with a positive platform, adding their campaign was very measured and directly addressed the genuine concerns expressed by local across the country communities, in particular those surrounding the ongoing cost of living crisis.

“They’re a really strong team and they’ll deliver what they’ve promised,” she said of the Albanese Government.

While she was unsuccessful in her first Federal Election, despite polling 21946 first preference votes with 98.64 percent of the total vote counted at the time of publication, Ms Backhous confirmed she would consider running again for Labor at the next Federal Election, adding she has received an incredible amount of support and encouragement following her inaugural political campaign.
