Sambrook selected for Australia Youth

Recent stories

Last Friday, North Coast football sensation Logan Sambrook received the phone call every kid dreams of.

It was the coach of the Australian Youth Team, ‘The Joeys,’ inviting Sambrook to join the national team on their PacificAus tour against the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu Under-19 men’s teams.

Sambrook, who plays for North Coast Under 16s in the Premier Youth League, honed his skills during his junior years at Northern Storm. His stellar performance at the National Youth Championships in Wollongong last month, representing Northern NSW, caught the eye of the national selectors. Logan not only had an excellent tournament but also finished as the joint top goalscorer.

Returning from the nationals, Logan wasted no time in giving back to the sport, helping coach the kids in the SAP (Skills Acquisition Program).

His football journey began at Northern Storm, where he played from the age of six to twelve, before moving to the North Coast representative team, where he has been a standout player for the past four years in the Premier Youth League.

North Coast head coach Greg Brown couldn’t hide his excitement. “We are absolutely delighted with Logan’s progress. This is such a fantastic opportunity,” said the former Socceroo and Matildas coach.

It’s been a whirlwind few days for the Sambrook family, as Logan is set to fly out for national team duty on Sunday, August 11.
