Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke was on hand to help celebrate the official opening of the Destination and Discovery Hub in Narrandera late last week.

Ms Cooke joined with Narrandera Mayor Cr Neville Kschenka and community members for the highly anticipated occasion.

“Today marks a significant milestone for our community with the official opening of the Destination and Discovery Hub here in Narrandera, which of course is a vital component of the visionary ‘Playground on the Murrumbidgee’ project,” Ms Cooke said.

“This state-of-the-art facility stands as a testament to Narrandera’s commitment to fostering local heritage, promoting tourism, and enhancing community engagement.

“The infrastructure that has been brought to life as part of the ‘Playground on the Murrumbidgee’ has truly put Narrandera on the map, and the opening of the hub is a vital component of what has truly been a labour of love for all involved.

“I am so incredibly proud as the local MP to have secured the $8 million investment under the previous Coalition Government for the ‘Playground on the Murrumbidgee’, which has supported a range of projects that have truly cemented Narrandera’s reputation as a premier tourist destination,” she said.

Ms Cooke said the new Hub replaces the existing Visitors Centre and incorporates a visitor services space, a small gallery space, and an interpretive space with staff meeting, work and storage spaces, and public amenities.

“The Hub complements the other infrastructure that has been brought to life as part of the ‘Playground on the Murrumbidgee’ including the award-winning Lake Talbot Water Park, which I had the great honour of opening, along with the Skywalk and Viewing Platform Project, the Pedestrian Bridge, the Lake Talbot Tourist Park upgrade including new amenities, along with new children’s play equipment for the town,” Ms Cooke said.

“I am thrilled to see this vision come to life, and look forward to the positive impact it will have on our community. These facilities not only enhance our tourism infrastructure but reinforces Narrandera’s reputation as a vibrant cultural hub in regional New South Wales,” she said.
