Welcome to Birchip Neighbourhood House

Recent stories

Make Christmas memorable and creative by spending time crafting, dining out, decorating, giving and having fun with your friends and neighbours this December at the Birchip Neighbourhood House.

On Friday night, the first Christmas craft workshop was hosted by Amber Hogg from “the Charm Collective”. Amber’s Christmas wreath workshop was a delightful opportunity for the ten participants to celebrate the start of the Christmas season by immersing themselves in a fun, creative, positive, and heartwarming experience.

Amber brought along a plethora of accent foliage, flowers and decorations, and the ladies went to work with their secateurs, selecting leaves, gums, flowers and accessories to decorate a wreath. They can now hang it proudly on the door to welcome guests to their home during the Christmas period, and ponder the circle design which originated as a spiritual representation of an unending circle of life, with no beginning and no end.

Free community afternoon tea

On Thursday, December 14, between 1 and 3 p.m., the Birchip Neighbourhood House and the Birchip diocese of St Vincent de Paul will be hosting a free community Christmas afternoon tea for everyone in the community, particularly those who are living alone. The Birchip P-12 students will be coming along again to play board games and there will be Christmas treats to share while you enjoy a cuppa or a glass of bubbly.

Between 10 a.m. and 12 noon on Wednesday, December 20, Sarah Botheras, the newly appointed Healthy Kids Adviser for the Buloke Shire, and Stephanie Alexander from Kitchen Garden Foundation will be hosting a workshop for the children – and even Santa will be making a visit.

Kindergarten and school aged children will be able to participate in a pot decorating and planting activity any time between 10 and 12 noon, and while they are there, they can have a play in Santa’s workshop and have a photo with Santa in Santa’s Kingdom.

Santa’s Kingdom

Santa’s Kingdom is open in the bar area of the old Shamrock Hotel at 77-79 Cumming Avenue at the Birchip Neighbourhood House up until Saturday, December 23. It is open Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Tuesday, December 12, after Birchip P-12 School Presentation Night, Tuesday, December 19, until 9 p.m., and by appointment with Simone.

Come along, have a play in the snow, write and post a letter to Santa, and get some fun Christmas photographs.
