The residents of ‘Rochy South’ were given a boost to their makeshift living quarters on Sunday when the Cohuna Leos and Cubs spent the day with them and brought much needed supplies.

Dubbed ‘Rochy South’, the temporary village set up for Rochester residents displaced by the floods is located on the Elmore Field Days site. It currently houses around 60 adults and 40 children but is expected to grow.

The facility is in its infancy and while there is bedding and other facilities available, it’s the extras that are lacking.

The Leos delivered some much needed resources to the children who now call the site home, all purchased with money fundraised by the group.

Games, books, bean bags, balls, cushions and toys were amongst the haul, along with Hug in a Rugs made by the Leos themselves.

The Leos and Cubs set up a ‘Book Nook’ and ‘Chill Zone’ with lots of bean bags and cushions, a dolls house and lots more, giving the kids a place to call their own and to ease the burden of losing so many of their own treasures.

A barbecue lunch was provided to the residents and the Leos’ famous donuts were also on offer.
