Bridge to Bridge back home at Harwood

Recent stories

In October 2021 Maclean Business Chamber approached Mark Stephenson from Big River Ski Club to start the conversation around bringing the Bridge-to-Bridge Ski Race back to the lower river and the traditional full course, turning at Harwood Bridge.

Christine Tyler, President of the Chamber said, as a result the Race Committee kindly considered our offer to help, and we have worked together since then to overcome the issues of manpower, course boats, specialised paramedics services, advertising, and the coordination of lower river community members to get the race back to Harwood making it the true “Bridge to Bridge”

“The Race is a big-ticket event in the Clarence Valley with competitors and spectators coming from far and wide, to take part, or be a part of the spectacular event. People gather along the riverbanks at many different vantage points, and The Chamber considers the race as something for the whole Clarence Valley to enjoy and be proud of”. Said Christine Tyler.

Ms Tyler said the opportunity for local business along the river who open on that Sunday October 2, will be boosted by the numbers of people in towns and villages who come to see the action and to enjoy a great family day out.

“Maclean CBD Retail shops will be open as part of our Sunday Trading trial and our popular eateries will be ready to serve up a delicious breakfast, morning tea or lunch.”
