The 2024 Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour is a celebration of the mountain and adventure sport world.  Sharing over 2 1/2 hours of the most exhilarating short films from  explorers, runners, mountain bikers, skiers, paddlers and climbers  from around the globe.
Showground user groups offered same fees for one year as council considers future fees
The Casino Showground and Racecourse has had a massive makeover and was officially opened on April 20 ... The  new facility  includes a large undercover arena, an outdoor sand arena, turfed areas and covered stables, a new racehorse stable complex to accommodate up to 80 horses, and new car, truck and float parking areas.

Thousands expected at Paradise Lagoons Campdraft Â
Riders and spectators from around Australia will converge on the Region this weekend for the 22nd annual Paradise Lagoons Campdraft. The Paradise Lagoons Campdraft Association received $10,000 towards the event during round two of Council’s 2023/24 Community Assistance Program (CAP). Â
Ninth in State Horse Trials
Over the weekend, the 120 best pony club riders and their horses from Victoria and southern New South Wales participated in the 2024 Pony Club Victoria State Horse Trials Championships held at the Finley Pony Club ... Amber King-Gee, a local rider, competed with her horse New Indian Rupee in the Grade Three Division B.
Local riders go hard
Four young bike riders from the Upper Murray acquitted themselves well in Round 2 of the Australian Hard Enduro championships at Wattle Creek near Bathurst, on the weekend. Organisers said the future of Hard Enduro is looking very secure with the amount of highly skilled juniors making their way through the course.
Hat trick of cups for Narrandera trotting Team Jones
The husband and wife team of Blake and Ellen Jones completed a recent Coolamon Cup three peat after Keto (Sweet Lou) led all the way to snare the harness racing silverware. Local reinsman Peter McRae was handed the reins on the Ellen Jones trained $3.60 second elect while her husband was in charge of the stablemate American Legacy.
Endurance riders tackle local tracks
Twenty-three horses and riders tackled the WA Endurance Riders Association Denmark ride on Saturday, May 4. The ride base was on private property on Mt Lindesay Road and riders tackled distances ranging from 12-80km on local roads and forest tracks.
50 year anniversary – Leeor A Grade
This past weekend, Kaniva Leeor United (KLU) hosted the Leeor Premiership reunion of the 1974 A Grade team. The event, held during KLU’s home game against Pimpinio, drew a large crowd of supporters, including former players and officials from the victorious 1974 team.
French finals success for Arandt and Barnes
Ben Arandt and Will Barnes, with Australian team mate Kurtis Fisher, have won the Coupe de France national division grand-final. The trio play for the Les Loups Paimers-Vernajoul X11 Wolves and have enjoyed a successful season, with Barnes and Fisher backing up their Leeton Greens Group 20 premiership, with this latest win.

Jed Holloway’s 100th game for Waratahs
Wallabies’ backrower and former Yamba Buccaneers junior Jed Holloway played his 100th game for the NSW Waratahs in a Super Rugby Pacific clash against arch rivals the ACT Brumbies in atrocious conditions at Allianz Stadium in Sydney ... Watched on by Buccaneers supporters in the crowd, Holloway set up a try as torrential rain fell, and despite a hardfought effort, the Brumbies defeated the Waratahs 29-21.
Maroons test the Tigers – again
It was a big day at Sea Lake on Saturday with Nullawil meeting the Tigers on their home turf, in the much-anticipated grand final replay. The former Tyrrell and Mallee Football League rivals met in a Sea Lake-Nandaly Tigers vs Nullawil grand final in both the seniors and reserves.
Fifty years in the making
Tomorrow’s North-Central’s round 5 match of the day between the league’s two most recent additions, Sea Lake-Nandaly and Nullawil, reunites the two former Tyrrell League rivals 50 years after an epic 1974 grand final encounter. It is also the rematch of last season’s grand finalists.

Counting family, friends and players, over 100 people gathered at St Brigid’s Church last Saturday for the third Maldon Petanque Club tournament. Following two last-minute scratchings, 22 teams of three players took to the pistes to play five games apiece.

The 2024 Adelaide Equestrian Festival has again lived up to the hype, with record-breaking crowds and some of the finest displays of horsemanship in the country on show ... David Middleton had an event to remember, winning the International CCI5* on his homebred WEC In The Money after winning the event at Gawler 24 years ago.
Demons feel the heat
Cudgewa inflicted maximum damage on Corryong in a 178-point rout on Saturday to sit alone on top of the ladder with a very healthy percentage. The Blues flew the blocks with a nine-goal first term, cruised through the second quarter and then piled on another nine goals in each of the last two quarters for a huge win.
Narrandera Knights achieve finals success
Narrandera Knights junior representative basketball teams enjoyed great success at last weekend’s Western Junior League finals series in Griffith. For a small association, Narrandera was well represented with six of the seven 2024 teams qualifying for finals where the U12 girls and U16 girls progressed to grand final matches.
Nhill Hockey Round 2
Round 2 of WHA hockey saw NDSC – Hockey Division come away with good results on a warmish autumn day on the grass at Anzac Park, Warracknabeal. Nhill played against all Dimboola teams, winning two and drawing one.
