Allora golf report

Recent stories

On Sunday, prior to teeing off for the Ty Gardner Concreting Monthly Medal, the Allora Sports Club Secretary, John Ellwood, paid tribute to club member Ray O’Leary.

John spoke of Ray’s love of golf, and his commitment, together with Doreen, to keeping the greens in top condition. Ray shouted everyone a drink and a minutes’ silence was held.

Ray was smiling down on Tommy, with Tommy playing 2 excellent rounds of golf, not only winning the monthly medal, but also taking home the big prize as a member of the winning DDGA handicap division south men’s Pennants team.

The winners on the day were: 1st: Tommy Brown – 65, 2nd: Kerry Haines – 69, 3rd: Kev Harrison – 69

NTP’S: 4th: Kenny Wilson, 7th: Kev Harrison, 8th: Kerry Haines, 13th: Kev Harrison, 16th: Lindsay May.
Approaches: 3rd: Kenny Wilson, 13th: Anthony Austin.
Long putts: 1st: Don Crawford, 10th: Nick Lake.
Long drives: 1/10: Aaron Simpson, 5/14: Shann O’Connell.

Friday’s Allora Hardware duck run – The winners were: 1st: Wayne McKewen – 21 points, 2nd: Hethe Ramus – 21 points.

NTP on the 16th: Tommy Brown.
Approach on the 12th: Willy Duff.
Long putt on the 10th: Tom Morris.

Allora men’s Pennants team victorious – On Sunday morning, our men’s Pennants team took on Texas in the final of the handicap division south competition.

Tommy Brown, Willy Duff, Kev Harrison, Wayne McKewen and Jason Nightingale were victorious on their home turf securing victory 4-1.

Wayne and Willy were undefeated all season and continued that form in the final.

Col Hoey, the Darling Downs Golf Association Secretary was on hand to present the team with the winning trophy.
