Zac Mac steps up for titles

Marc Le Bars. Local Nimbin man, Zac McDonald is set to participate in the Australian title coming up on 21st-22nd February in Warnambool, Victoria, at Premier Speedway where he hopes to stamp his name in the books, and stand on the top step as the Australian Champion.

It’s back to back delight for Codi and Doug

For the second consecutive year, Kodi Morena and Douglas Mowbray are the kings of the Riverland Dinghy Derby. In sweltering conditions, the duo claimed a tight victory in Sunday’s prestigious event, racing through the course in 1:10:23, almost six seconds clear of runners-up Scott Pogorecki and Nathan Wilson, while Andrew Kelckhoven and Ace Pratt rounded out the top three.

Chucky wins Dakar

Victorian Daniel ‘Chucky’ Sanders has claimed his maiden Dakar victory, marking KTM's 20th Dakar win and becoming the second Australian to triumph in the gruelling race. ‘Chucky’ is no stranger to the top step on the world stage; he has represented Australia at the International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) and has won titles.

Disappointing start to 2025 for local racing team, Kermit Racing

After much anticipation, preparation and travelling more than ten hours to One Raceway near Goulburn in NSW, Kermit Racing’s weekend finished just 5 hours after the race start. Kermit Racing’s driver team for this event was Graeme Ussing, David Morrison, Paul Newcombe and Brady Newcombe.

Myers family Summernats fundraiser

Well known Summernats competitors Jake Myers, Amy Myers, Deby and Gary Myers and their team raised $4500.80 for the Neuroblastoma Foundation at this year’s Summernats car festival in Canberra ACT. Jake Myers owns the famous S1CKO 1966 Mustang which he had white vinyl wrapped for his wedding back in October 2024 and decided after the wedding to leave the white on and let people sign it at Summernats with a twist.

Kadina boys light up Adelaide 500

Kadina’s Alex Larwood and Tate Cowie etched their names in Supercross and wingless sprint car history, after the duo competed for the first time at the VAILO Adelaide 500, held November 14 to 16. Larwood competed in the SX2 class (motocross), while Cowie was in his wingless spring car.

Toowoomba’s Will Brown has taken out the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship with a win at the Adelaide 500. Brown said he couldn’t have been happier to finish off the year with a win. "I was pretty stoked to finish off the year with a win to be honest," Brown said.

Blast from the Past: Land speed records broken at Carrathool

In February 1957 a dirt track at Carrathool was the site for record breaking Australian land speed records. Behind the wheel of an AC race car was a glamourous young British socialite, Mary Seed (nee Morton). Seed has raced an Austin Healy in the UK in 1955 but after coming to Australia as a new bride in 1956 she drove an AC.

Cowie will compete in his wingless sprint car ... “Because we’re more of a budget sort of class, your average joe could sort of look at it and go ‘oh yeah I can afford to race one of these’ and hopefully grow the class from there.”

Hill Climb buzz

Oh glorious springtime Saturday in October, the air around Mount Tarrengower filled with the sound of bees and pobblebonks and roaring, revving engines. It was the Historic Hill Climb on Saturday 19 October, so motor-heads from miles around converged at Butts Reserve to admire each other’s chassis and race up and down the hill, as has been the tradition since 1928.

Judd Chislett claims double victory in senior titles

In an exhilarating display of skill and determination, young motocross rider Judd Chislett has made headlines by clinching two titles in his first year competing in the Victorian Senior motocross titles. The 16-year-old talent achieved a clean sweep, dominating all four rounds of the Senior Victorian Titles (C Grade) held at Portland, Shepparton, Albury and the final round at Blue Rock near Moe.

Arthurton makes the cut

Rachel Hagan. Arthurton’s first ever lawn mower race day was a massive hit for the Yorke Peninsula with more than 1000 people attending the inaugural event. About 40 competitors, from all over the state, made their way to Arthurton on weekend for the South Australian Lawn Mower Racing Association (SALMRA) and Arthurton Progress Association event.

Sand drags a high-octane success

Wallaroo welcomed sand drags for the first time on the weekend after Copper Coast Motorsports sand drags track opening earlier this month ... attracted more than 1500 spectators and 70 entrants over the two days, with event organisers saying the meeting was a major economic boost for Yorke Peninsula.

Rookie Judd Chislett dominates senior Victorian motocross MX2 championship

In a stunning debut season, rookie rider Judd Chislett from Pyramid Hill has firmly established himself as the frontrunner in the 2024 Senior Victorian Motocross MX2 C Grade Championship. Despite a broken collarbone at the start of the year, the 16-year-old has bounced back in impressive fashion, winning every race he has contested so far.
