For the second consecutive year, Kodi Morena and Douglas Mowbray are the kings of the Riverland Dinghy Derby.
In sweltering conditions, the duo claimed a tight victory in Sunday’s prestigious event, racing through the course in 1:10:23, almost six seconds clear of runners-up Scott Pogorecki and Nathan Wilson, while Andrew Kelckhoven and Ace Pratt rounded out the top three.
Impressively, Morena and Mowbray bettered their winning time of the previous season, hitting 1:10:32 in the 2024 event. The iconic race was the closest of the day, while Jeremy Morrison and Riley Schwarz claimed the 30hp Rookies class ahead of Nick Gray and Luke Sharrad.
Friday night saw a healthy crowd in what was also an exciting evening of racing in the Dash 4 Cash, with Andrew Kelckhoven and Ace Pratt getting over the finish line the quickest.
The pair finished with a time of 53.96 – ahead of Morena and Mowbray on 54.28.
One of the most exciting races of the night was the 30hp Standard class, where Ryan and Dan Penley, with a time of 63.63, finished ahead of Sean Peterson and Sophie Lampard on 63.64.
