Toowoomba’s Will Brown has taken out the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship with a win at the Adelaide 500.
Brown said he couldn’t have been happier to finish off the year with a win.
“I was pretty stoked to finish off the year with a win to be honest,” Brown said.
“Chaz and Broc were having a good battle up the front, and unfortunately I got turned around by Brodie (Kostecki).
Having been pushed back to 22nd on the grid Brown said he was able to throw caution to the wind.
“I literally then had a moment to myself and said, there’s no pressure, I’m just going to go out there and have some fun and drive back through the field as much as I can, and all of a sudden I started to pick a few people off,” Brown said.
“(Race Engineer) Andrew (Edwards) came on the radio and said we’re seventh, and then we’re fifth, and I though that was pretty cool.
“When I got into a podium position, I was stoked with that, but then there was some commotion up ahead and I got through for the win.
“It was cool to get the win after what happened.
“I want to say a huge thanks to my team, it’s been an epic year and I can’t wait to celebrate this championship with them.”
