Local Nimbin man, Zac McDonald is set to participate in the Australian title coming up on 21st-22nd February in Warnambool, Victoria, at Premier Speedway where he hopes to stamp his name in the books, and stand on the top step as the Australian Champion.

Zac has been working extremely hard at getting the car up to speed to be able to compete with the nation’s best.

Zac says, “This 2024/2025 season we have been a little off the pace compared to the 2023/2024 season, but the last three races we have got on the podium, so I know I’m on the right path and got some secrets up my sleeve still yet.

“So I just gotta keep pushing and working hard and I know with a little luck and grit, I hope to bring the Australian Championship winning trophy to Nimbin.”

Prior to the Australian Titles, Zac will be heading to Toowoomba for the Queensland title on 8th February, where he will be testing a few new things on his car.

And all going well, the weekend after he will head to Sydney’s International Speedway before heading south to the Australian Titles, being contested over three nights.

Zac’s V8 Dirt Modified is a Bicknell Chassis on DIG Shocks powered by a CT525 6.2 litre engine running on methanol fuel pushing around 580hp.

His trademark fluoro green livery stands out rocking the number 51, which is a special number to him because his birthday is the 5th of the 1st, and his Father (Johnny Mac) is a 1951 model.

I asked Zac what his head space was, coming into three big races, his response was: “To not suck” as he laughed.

“Oh, definitely always thinking, calculating funds to make sure I’ll have enough for race tyres, methanol, pit passes, equipment etc, etc; losing sleep over car setups and trying combinations of spring/shocks, trying to stay fit physically and mentally,” he said.

Zac and his team have a busy month of February ahead of them, so let’s help our local man and support him and his endeavours to do Nimbin proud.

Everything helps, so contact him at: zacmac51@hotmail.com and see the great opportunities he has to offer you in return.
