Bulk billing benefits locals

Recent stories

In a major boost for the Upper Murray community, Corryong Health has transitioned to a bulk billed medical practice as of of March 2nd under a recently launched Australian government Bulk Billing Practice Incentive Program (BBPIP).

The program has expanded eligibility for Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) bulk billing incentives.

“Bulk billing is now becoming a reality for all Upper Murray residents who have a Medicare Card,” said Corryong Health CEO, Cynthia Robins.

“This means, all patients will now be bulkbilled for eligible General Practitioner (GP) consultations.”

However, not all services are covered under the new incentives.

Medical procedures, for example, are not part of the program, which means there will still be a gap to pay.

However, the program covers all regular GP appointments for Medicare Card holders.

“Bulk Billing enhances access to primary care through ensuring that those who need care receive it,” Ms Robins said.

Steffanie Zagon, Practice Manager of the Medical Clinic, said “I’m incredibly proud of our team for making the transition to a bulk billing practice.

“This decision reflects our deep commitment to the community we serve. We understand that healthcare should never be out of reach.

“Becoming a bulk billing clinic means more people can seek care early, maintain their health and feel supported without the added financial burden.

“It’s an exciting step forward for our practice and most importantly, for our community.”

“The transition to bulk billing reflects Corryong Health’s new purpose that was decided as part of its Strategic Plan for the next three years,” Ms Robins said.

‘We provide people with healthcare that matters to them.

“More information on this plan will be revealed soon.”
