With the bias

Recent stories

It was an intense few hours of bowling when Corryong took on the Commercial Club bowlers on their home turf in Albury on Saturday in the opening round of the Ovens & Murray weekend pennant competition.

The visitors got off to a good start but once the Commercial bowlers got into their rhythm on a faster somewhat quirky pitch it was a game of catch up for the Corryong teams.

Skip Simon Donadon’s team prevailed in the final few ends to win by five shots, our other two teams going down by four and eight – losing the day by seven shots.

The competition was serious but played in good spirits – both teams wanting the perfect start to the new session.

Corryong welcomed a new bowler into the fold in Alan Johnston who more than held up his end against a team which could prove to be a very serious contender for this year’s competition.

At home, the Men’s Championship Pairs got underway with results so far:

R1: Col Smedley/ Ken Carson d Adrian Cummiskey/John Faci, Rohan and Brett Whitehead d Ken McKimmie/Alan Johnston, Peter Mongan/ Angelo Donadon d Leif Kamba/ Stewart Ross, Noel Blake/Doug Smedley d Roy Byrne/ Fred Gray.

Rd 2: Mongan/ Donadon d Blake/ Smedley.

To be continued.
