This past weekend, Kaniva Leeor United (KLU) hosted the Leeor Premiership reunion of the 1974 A Grade team. The event, held during KLU’s home game against Pimpinio, drew a large crowd of supporters, including former players and officials from the victorious 1974 team.
The presence of players from the original squad and their families added a heartfelt dimension to the celebrations, reflecting the deep community bonds fostered through sports.
The attendees were not only treated to a competitive game but also stayed on in the club rooms for the auction of replica jumpers worn by the present team. On Sunday morning, the Serviceton Club Rooms hosted an egg and bacon breakfast, providing a great setting for attendees to mingle and share stories.
The event also featured a display of Grand Final memorabilia and the screening of grainy footage from the 1974 match, offering a nostalgic glimpse into the club’s storied past. The event served as a powerful reminder of the enduring legacy of the 1974 team and the ongoing spirit of camaraderie within the club. Â
