Kaniva’s newest addition to the sheep art trail

Recent stories

A delightful new addition to Kaniva’s streets is soon to capture the hearts of residents and visitors alike. Meet Gummy, a charming children’s sheep brought to life by the artistic talents of Heather Wallis, Sally Hicks and Jeanette Feder.

Inspired by May Gibbs’ timeless classic “Snugglepot and Cuddlepie”, Gummy brings the magic of Australian literature and nature to life. Gummy is a vibrant representation of the Australian bush and the unique flora and fauna found in the nearby Little Desert National Park and district. Gummy features iconic elements such as gum trees, wattle, tea tree, a blue wren, a lizard and a kookaburra. The result is both whimsical and educational.

KDPA plan to locate Gummy and the Li-baa-ry sheep near the walkway area on the north side of the street. These two sheep not only complement each other visually but also symbolise a shared passion for children’s literacy. The Australiana sheep also promotes Australian giftware available at various local businesses, including Kaniva Floor & Decor, Kaniva Post Office, Kaniva Pharmacy, Worry’s Shop, and the Puppet Shop.

Well done Heather, Sally and Jeanette on creating a beautiful sheep for children.
