Nhill Free Press and Kaniva Times contacted GWM water for an update on the Nhill Lake’s Bore.
A new lakeside bore at Nhill Lake will replace the existing infrastructure and secure a more reliable water supply for the lake.
Mark Williams, Managing Director of GWM Water said, “The bore at Davis Park was utilised as an interim arrangement but used open drains to deliver the water. The new bore is specifically designed to supply water to the Lake and will supply a similar volume.
The lake has received good inflows from Pine Street bore over winter, and planning approvals are expected to be received by early October and installation of a new bore will take two to three months to complete.
“The construction contract for drilling works has been awarded to Nhill-based local business Cook Drilling and the contract for the electrical and mechanical works is being finalised.” Mr Williams said.
The project has been made possible with funding from the Recreational Fishing Licence Grant Program, Victorian Fisheries Authority, Wimmera Catchment Management Authority and Hindmarsh Shire Council.
