Duo keen to take out fourth street machine gong

Recent stories

Narrandera’s Gary Myers and his son Jake have been chosen to run for the Street Machine of the Year awards with their famous Mustang and they are hoping for your vote.

The duo are hoping to notch up a fourth Street Machine of the Year award in 2023 with their 1966 Ford Mustang.

The GM176/S1CKO Mustang gave Gary his first win in 2001 and it’s seen a few guises since his son Jake took up burnouts in the car, although it’s always rocked blown 302 Windsor power.

Most recently, it was dressed up in OG black with five-slotters and wheelie bars as an epic throwback to its early days.

It’s undoubtedly one of the most beloved and storied cars in Street Machine history, having competed for almost as long as the Street Machine magazine has been in print.

Since 1988, the Milwaukee Street Machine of the Year has been the richest and most prestigious award in this sport.

What makes it unique is that the winner is selected solely by the street machine community and the role call of winners is a whose-who of legends.

Milwaukee provides a $20,000 first prize to the winner and $5000 to one lucky voter.
