Blues show no mercy in drubbing

Recent stories

After a scare last week against Tumbarumba, Cudgewa wreaked havoc on a hapless Corryong on Saturday with the much vaunted Blues’ key forward setup of Drew Cameron, Adam Prior and Josh Bartel posting 24 of their 35 goals in a 203-point demolition.

With Darcy McKimmie, Mitch Pynappels and Drew Carey running riot from the first bounce the Blues attack feasted on the delivery to rack up 20 goals by the long break to the opposition’s one.

The onslaught barely slowed down in the second half despite the rearguard actions of Tom Saunders, Brandon Taylor and Jake Robson for Corryong as the Blues piled on another 15 majors.

Tumbarumba made some inroads into Bullioh’s lead on the ladder with a nail-biting two point victory to sit two games behind the Dogs but will have to beat Cudgewa in round 10 to keep their slim hopes of the double chance alive.

Both sides went into the contest without recognised full forwards but the Roos relied on their speed to pump the ball into attack but a wasteful forward line could only put 2.10 on the scoreboard in the first term.

Bullioh took advantage of the inaccuracy to stay within touch and launched an all out effort in the last quarter, restricting the Roos to a zero score but fell agonisingly short after doubling their goal tally in the final term.
