The mural is finished. It’s been two years in the making but the water tower on the hill overlooking Casino is complete. The mural is broken into four paintings – the swan, the platypus, the farmer and the Indigenous basket weaver.

Brightsiders artists Steve Falco and Jordan Bruce have finished painting, packed up the paint tins and headed back to Brisbane. They enjoyed their time in Casino, with cars often tooting at them as they were up high in the cherry picker painting the tower.

“We were inspired by nature and humans and the Indigenous representation,” Steve said. The tower was an awesome canvas, he said. Jordan said the mural was a “great landmark for Casino.”

Richmond Valley Council plans to have an official unveiling of the mural in mid-January. The mural was funded by a $125,000 grant from the Regional Tourism Bushfire Recovery grants program, an Australian Government bushfire recovery initiative to support tourism projects in local government areas impacted by bushfires.
