The Barkly Sports Hub’s new action-packed program is off to a great start with participant numbers on the rise across multiple sports.
Barkly Regional Council Sports Program Coordinator Tom Machin said it was the best week of touch football so far with 16 players showing up.
Social soccer has proved a favourite on Tuesday evenings, with an extra Thursday training session added to prepare for the upcoming social tournament against Alice Springs later this month. Tom said the cricket and softball afternoons had been delayed due to inclement weather, however had now kicked off with 14 players ready to bat and bowl on Saturday evening. More interest is still required in the softball program.
Another hit with sports fans are the Yoga sessions, with 15 turning out each week.
The times and venues for the sports are:
Touch Football: 6pm-7.30pm Monday nights at Purkiss Oval.
Soccer: 7pm-8pm Tuesday nights at Purkiss Oval.
Yoga: 5.30pm-7pm at the CWA Hall.
Tennis: 6pm-8pm Thursday nights at the Tennis Courts.
