Thousands of fingerlings stocked to boost local fishing
On Tuesday, 29 April, Nhill Lake received a boost to its aquatic life with the release of 5,000 golden perch fingerlings.
The restocking initiative is part of the State Government’s Go Fishing Victoria plan, which aims to encourage more people to take up fishing across the state.
The program is funded through recreational fishing licence fees and is designed to improve fishing opportunities for locals and visitors alike.
Golden perch, also known as yellowbelly, are a popular freshwater sport fish and a welcome addition to the lake.
The release is expected to enhance the fishing experience at Nhill Lake in the months and years ahead as the fingerlings grow to maturity.
The local community and recreational fishers are encouraged to make the most of this investment in regional fishing.
