A use for carp

Recent stories

Carp are a big problem.

We can fish them out but then what?

Burying carp in the garden is one way to deal with them.

Roy Butler, Member for Barwon, tells us he visited a place run by Oceans2Earth. They make a product called Soil Enhancer. They mix fish waste and wood together to make a fertiliser.

The man behind this is Tim Crane, originally from Wilcannia.

Not only are they making a product that’s great for the garden, it means people use less chemicals but best of all, it’s a way to deal with the carp problem.

Tim is hoping to be able to remove the carp from our rivers in the West, to use in his product. As Roy says “It would be great to see carp removed from our rivers and lakes while creating more productive agriculture, decreasing the use of chemicals – and new jobs in the Barwon Electorate.”
