The president of the Corryong Show committee reported to the recent annual general meeting that an enthusastic band of helpers and improvements to the show site have ensured the future of a great community event.
“We have ticked the boxes with what we had aimed and hoped to achieve with our Spring Show,” Evan Nicholas said, “with great attendance from our community and also from afar.
“We have also catered for all ages and made our show affordable for all.
“This young and enthusiastic committee has grasped the importance of an agricultural show with strong numbers attending the monthly meetings and all members buying in to support one another to hopefully in time, lighten the load off Serena Klippel, Emma Klippel and others.
“I’d like personally thank Serena and Emma for another outstanding year of many hours put towards this day. We even survived a few months without Em but obviously phone service across Australia must be improving all the time!
“The executive committee runs a pretty smooth sailing ship and get done what needs to be done without question every month. All the helpers who do shifts on the bar, gate etc and all those that assist in some way either during setup or pack up every little bit of help goes a long way and is definitely noticed.
“This year, in some ways, all the past years hard work has started to pay off. Little things like the show day online program, all committee members having Corryong show shirts, the end of a few years of grants (which has been very tiring for certain people) but also enabled us to build our shed and have all our necessary equipment all on site at the rec reserve, plus upgraded power around the grounds.
“These improvements have made show day run smoothly.
“As has the smooth transition of judging the pavilion on the Friday. This not only takes some pressure off the Saturday but also allows the judges and stewards to relax and enjoy their day a little more.
“Sometimes we have to look back and see not only have we achieved a great community event but we have also made things better for the future.
“One thing that is extremely pleasing is the goodwill between community organisations.
“There’s always plenty of in-kind support from the Towong Council but also the Man from Snowy River Bush Festival allows us to borrow pretty much whatever we need from their coup. This makes the setup so much easier.
“We also used the machinery club’s speaker system which did an amazing job and something we are very grateful for. We can’t thank you all enough.
“Our show is sponsored very well by many local businesses throughout our community. This allows us to provide plenty of free entertainment and great value for your hard-earned dollars. We thank you all.”
The committee was re-elected at the annual meeting and comprises:- President – Evan Nicholas, Vice President – Serena Klippel, Treasurer – Laura Hogg and Secretaries Emma Klippel and Shea Bloom.
