The vote from the Bentley Art Prize People’s Choice is in and the winner is ”¦. Kevin Lawlor from Lismore.

This weekend, July 11–14, crowds came to Bentley Hall to view 500 artworks.

One of those art pieces was a watercolour painted on 100 per cent cotton canvas by Kevin Lawlor titled The Greys.

“It was so well loved by people,” Kevin said.

“It’s an absolute honour (to win).”

The Greys uses light to draw the viewer to the rider bringing a cow in, Kevin said.

“The background is white where the sun shines across the rider’s shoulders.”

At the end of the weekend when Kevin was packing up several of his pieces at Bentley Hall, many people approached him to buy the painting but it was already sold to a real estate agent from Lismore.

He wins $500 for the People’s Choice.

You can view more of Kevin’s work at Art Lovers Australia. He is listed under the name Caib Kelly which is of Irish heritage and is his father’s name.
