We welcome you – Freedom Welcome Church

Recent stories

Despite the Salvation Army closing its doors in Kaniva, Pastor Sam Faavae is leasing the Church on a monthly basis until its eventual sale.

Sam, originally a pastor’s son from Auckland, migrated to Australia in 2000, living in Brisbane and Sydney, before moving to Melbourne in 2016. In 2018, he later became involved in the Freedom Worship Centre, created largely to cater for the Samoan communities living in Melbourne.

Coming from a family of musicians, Sam is a qualified high school music teacher and later trained as a pastor, but has also worked in various other industries. So far 25 people from Kaniva, Serviceton, Bordertown and Nhill have been attending the church. The services are timed at 3pm to coincide with public transport and finish with a shared tea.

Join Sam and family for uplifting services and engaging activities throughout the week:

  • Sundays: 10am – Sunday School, 3pm – Church service followed by shared tea.
  • Mondays: 7.30pm – Prayer meeting.
  • Wednesdays: 7.30pm – Bible Study.
  • Fridays: 7.30pm – Youth Activity Program (12–18 yrs)

Sam said, “No matter where you’re from—Kaniva, Serviceton, Bordertown, Nhill, or beyond—our doors are open, and our hearts are ready to welcome you.”
