In Herbert Street stop off at PL Travers Park and check out the Mary Poppins monument, then take a stroll down to Dalrymple Park where there’s an amazing fossil image of a Palorchestes carved into the back of a Sandstone Chair.

Travelling on from Allora it’s worth the trip to Goomburra, Killarney, Tannymorel, Emu Vale, Freestone, Leyburn, Leslie Dam, Warwick, Dalveen and Stanthorpe.

Most of the sandstone, granite and marble works featured in the trail were created at the Southern Downs Sculpture Symposiums in 2006, 2008 and 2010 using locally sourced materials, but some have esteemed historical roots, such as the heritage listed T J Byrnes Monument which was carved in Italy and placed in the centre of Warwick in 1902.

The Southern Downs Regional Council can provide details on the location of these sculptures. Phone 1300 697 372 or download the Council’s official Southern Downs & Granite Belt Visitor App.
