Blooming beautiful

Recent stories

This past weekend, the Kerang Memorial Hall hosted the annual show of the Mid-Murray Orchid Club. The event was a visual and olfactory delight with stunning colours and fragrances that could rival any high-end perfume.

Local talent impressed visitors with a six-week blooming period of beautiful orchids, surpassing previous years. The orchids are lovingly cared for weekly over 12 months to ensure that they are perfect for the show.

The orchid sales were quickly sold out by 11am on Saturday, proving the early bird gets the worm. Volunteers were busy providing knowledge and answering questions all weekend, including the common inquiry of “Why isn’t my orchid flowering?”

The Kerang Girl Guides also had a stunning display of floral art, showcasing their skills and the future longevity of green thumbs.

The Mid-Murray Orchid Club meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month at the Kerang Senior Citizens Community Meeting Room. Possible new members are invited to attend at 7.30pm and experience the friendly, welcoming environment.
