Decider draws $25K at gate

Despite less teams being involved in the Riverina Football League grand final at Narrandera Sportsground on Saturday the gate was up $4000 on last year.

The crowd paid $25,378 at the gate to watch Turvey Park win their first senior premiership in 21 years.

Turvey Park emerged first grade premiers 13.9 (87) to Griffith 8.8 (56). AFL Chairman Michael Irons said in view of the mix of teams he was happy at the gatetakings.

Five of the nine clubs in the RFL played – Turvey Park in three grades of football.

Coolamon completed the perfect season in reserve grade with a 72 point victory over Turvey Park.

The under 17s premiership went to Mangoplah Cookardinia United with a 9.6 (60) win over Turvey Park 4.7 (31).

In netball action, MCUE defeated Griffith 56-38 in A Grade, MCUE were too good for Wagga Tigers 45-41 in A Reserve, Griffith were narrow 30-29 winners over Turvey Park in B Grade and Griffith also won the C Grade decider, 41-32 over Coolamon.

In the first game of the day, the Under 17s, Turvey Park were 43-32 winners over Wagga Tigers.
