The Towong Turf Club has been recognised for the success of its annual race meeting with its nomination as the ‘Best Country Racing Event in 2023’.
Returning for the first time since 2019, the awards will be presented at a gala event on Saturday.
“We are absolutely thrilled to be nominated for the Kelly Sports Country Event of the Year,” said Towong president, Al Mackinnon.
“As a small and remote club it is great to be Race club makes the final field recognised for all the hard work that goes into hosting a community-based race meeting and something that we are very proud of.”
Club manager, Rohan Whitehead, added “It is a real honour and recognition for our hardworking committee, our volunteers and our ever-supportive local community.
“The amount of effort that goes into staging the Towong Cup is phenomenal and we are just so thrilled to have been short-listed for this award.
“We also congratulate all the other nominated clubs, particularly our North East cousins in Benalla and Wangaratta and wish Country Racing Victoria all the best with what I’m sure will be an extremely successful awards night.
