Nutritional menu proves a hit at primary school

Recent stories

Catherine Grimley, Tennant & District Times

It has been almost a year since Merrin Ashton took over running the canteen at the Primary School and any parent would be happy with the report card so far.

For those who do not know, the canteen runs a daily meal program which supplies students with breakfast, recess and lunch each day.

The menu is on a three-week rotation and almost everything is made in the canteen by Merrin and her three wonderful assistants.

If how the food looks and tastes is any guide, these ladies really love their jobs!

The menu is a healthy but interesting one, and Year 6 students are allowed to help out in the canteen once a week which helps teach them about good nutrition, but all students are encouraged to enter the trivia contest which has restarted this week.

Reassuring to see students being taught that healthy eating can be yummy and fun.
