More than a sheep show – A celebration of Australian agriculture, wool and rural living.

2026 Australian Sheep & Wool Show

The 2026 Australian Sheep & Wool Show is set to transform the Bendigo Showgrounds from 17–19 July, offering visitors far more than world-class sheep competitions. From cutting-edge agricultural technology to handcrafted wool products, artisan food, fashion and regional experiences, the Show has something for everyone.

The Australian Sheep & Wool Show is far more than Australia’s premier showcase of sheep breeding and wool production. It is the largest event of its kind in Australia, bringing together agriculture, fashion, food, technology, education and rural lifestyle in one vibrant three-day celebration. Held annually in Bendigo, in the heart of regional Central Victoria, the Show attracts tens of thousands of visitors from across Australia and overseas, delivering significant economic benefits to the region while showcasing the very best of Australian agriculture, innovation and country living.

For those working in, or considering a career in agriculture, the Technology & Careers Hub provides an opportunity to discover the future of the sheep industry. Young people exploring career pathways can connect with universities, training providers, agricultural organisations and employers, gaining valuable insight into the many opportunities available within the sheep and wool industries.

Beyond the educational precinct, the Show comes alive with almost 500 exhibitors, creating one of Australia’s largest marketplaces dedicated to sheep, wool and country living.

Visitors can wander through pavilions filled with luxurious woollen garments, hand-spun yarns, knitting supplies, fibre arts, natural wool products, sheepskin goods, homewares, gifts and handcrafted artisan creations. Many exhibitors are small Australian businesses passionate about quality craftsmanship, sustainability and showcasing the remarkable versatility of wool.

The popular Woolcraft Pavilion celebrates traditional skills alongside contemporary fibre arts, featuring spectacular displays, demonstrations and competitions that inspire visitors of all ages. Whether you’re an experienced spinner, passionate knitter or simply appreciate beautifully made Australian products, there is something to discover around every corner.

Fashion also takes centre stage with the Australian Sheep & Wool Show Fashion Parades, presented twice daily throughout the weekend. Showcasing the latest in Australian wool fashion and country lifestyle clothing, the parades celebrate the versatility, comfort and timeless appeal of wool while highlighting collections from leading designers and exhibitors.

Food lovers will find plenty to savour throughout the Show. The Festival of Lamb returns across all three days, featuring renowned chefs and master butchers demonstrating everything from preparing premium cuts to creating delicious lamb dishes. The interactive stage celebrates Australia’s world-class lamb industry while connecting consumers with the producers who supply one of the nation’s favourite proteins.

Adding to the experience is an extensive range of regional food producers, wineries, distilleries and artisan makers offering everything from gourmet condiments, honey, olive oils and preserves to locally produced wines, spirits and specialty foods. Visitors can sample, taste and purchase products directly from the people who make them.

Of course, the heart of the event remains the sheep themselves. More than 3,000 sheep representing over 25 breeds will compete across the weekend, alongside Australia’s leading fleece competitions, sheepdog trials, shearing and wool handling competitions and youth events, showcasing the excellence of the nation’s sheep industry.

Beyond the livestock competitions, visitors can enjoy an extensive range of attractions including:

  • Elite sheep judging across more than 30 breeds
  • Australian Fleece Competition
  • Sheepdog Trials
  • Shearing and Wool Handling Competitions
  • Woolcraft Exhibition
  • Women of Wool
  • Young Champion Award
  • Trade exhibits

Australian Sheep Breeders Association CEO Sue Opie said the Show continues to evolve while staying true to its purpose.

“The Australian Sheep & Wool Show is where agriculture meets community. Whether you’re a producer looking at the latest technology, a student considering a career in agriculture, a fibre enthusiast searching for beautiful wool products, or a family wanting a fantastic day out, there truly is something for everyone,” Ms Opie said.

“We’re incredibly proud to showcase not only Australia’s outstanding sheep and wool industries but also the many talented businesses, artisans, food producers and exhibitors who make the Show such a unique experience. Every visit supports regional businesses, celebrates Australian innovation and helps tell the story of our sheep industry from farm to fashion and from paddock to plate.”

With expanded precincts, new experiences and hundreds of exhibitors, the 2026 Australian Sheep & Wool Show promises to be one of the biggest and most exciting events on the rural calendar.

The Australian Sheep & Wool Show will be held at the Prince of Wales Showgrounds, Bendigo, from Friday 17 to Sunday 19 July 2026.
