Barellan annual First Cross Ewe sale was held last Friday with agents Mark Flagg Livestock & Property Pty Ltd of Barellan announcing the results.
Best extra heavyweight ewe lambs sold to firm rates on recent sales with most lines $20 – $30 cheaper than a recent noted first cross ewe sale. Buyers attended from Cowra, Cootamundra, Wagga, and Dubbo, accompanied by restocker interest from the local area.
Best Presented Pen of 1 st X Ewes 2023 sponsored by SJ Tonacia & Co (Mount Beckom Stud) was awarded to Flagg Family Trust “Townswell Park” Moombooldool.
This pen of 184 March 2022 drop ewe lambs, October shorn, Gudair vaccinated, average weight 81 kg sold to Spring Creek Pastoral Co, Cootamundra @ $325.

- A/C GK LM & DJ Golder “Avondale” sold 198 1 st X ewe lambs May/Jun 22 drop, November shorn, Gudair vaccinated, average weight 76 kg @ $300 to Daunt Partnership, Gubbata. This vendor sold a second run of 197 first cross ewe lambs of the same description, average weight 69 kg @ $270 to RLA, Wagga.
- A/C McDonald Farming “Glenara” sold 160 1 st X ewe lambs Mar/Apr 22 drop, October shorn, Gudair vaccinated, average weight 66 kg @ $255 to Daunt Partnership, Gubatta.
- A/C Wandon Farming “Karringal” sold 208 1 st X ewe lambs Mar/Apr 22 drop, December shorn, Gudair vaccinated, average weight 61 kg @ $255 to NC Bellamy, Cowra.
- A/C Donach Farms “Bents Hill” sold 230 1 st X ewe lambs Mar/Apr 22 drop, October shorn, Gudair vaccinated, average weight 67 kg @ $250 to LJ & KE Noske, Yerong Creek.
- A/C DG & DA McDermott “Roseville” sold 136 1 st X ewe lambs Mar/Apr 22 drop, November shorn, average weight 64 kg @ $250 to Spring Creek Pastoral Co, Cootamundra.
