South Australian produced beef, 36° South, has been named top in its class at the recent 2022 World Steak Challenge in Dublin, Ireland.

Teys Australia entered two of its premium brands – 36° South and Teys Certified Angus – in the prestigious meat competition that showcases product quality, breed credentials and processing standards on an international stage.

A panel of more than 60 independent judges tested cuts across several categories with 36° South receiving a gold medal in the Sirloin category, and Teys Certified Angus receiving bronze in the Sirloin category.

Teys Naracoorte General Manager Sage Murray said the 36o South win was great recognition of local producers and the quality of South Australian beef.

“36° South beef is hand-selected from Southern Australian cattle and crafted with care all along the supply chain,” Mr Murray said.

“We’re so proud of our Southern Australian provenance and this competition gives us a chance to showcase the premium quality of our beef and the produce from this region.

“These awards recognise the hard work and dedication put in by our people, as well as the support of the local community, which enable us to deliver quality products each and every day.”

Teys Chief Executive Officer, Andrew MacPherson, said the 36° South and Teys Certified Angus wins were testament to strong partnerships across the entire supply chain.

“From paddock to plate, our people work closely with producers, suppliers and customers to produce the best quality Aussie beef, so it’s great to see their efforts recognised on the world stage,” Mr MacPherson said.

The wins follow a strong performance in the 2021 World Steak Challenge when Teys’ Riverine Beef brand won a gold medal and Teys Certified Angus beef was awarded silver.
