Midnight Rangers: ragtag misfits bring country to Tennant Creek

Recent stories

The Midnight Rangers, a five piece group of ragtag misfits finally living the dream of playing their own take on country music in the utopia town of Tennant Creek for one night only at the Memo next Wednesdsay, before crawling up the Stuart highway to perform at the Darwin Fringe Festival.

For safety reasons, the band go by nicknames that were given on a spiritual band camp journey, the members include Pedjadeemus and Lil’ Andy on guitar and vocals, Weird Boy on synth, once Tennant Creek resident Strong Will on Bass and Daddy Nilla on the drums.

The band formed with the sole purpose of bringing their own take of country music to a new audience, with classic inspiration from such country legends as Buck Owens, Charlie Pride and Hank Williams mixed with the modern sounds of Orville Peck and Tom Waits and whoever the hell else we feel like stealing from.

The Midnight Rangers will be playing in Darwin at Brownsmart Studio on the 9 July, supporting fellow Mparntwe band Gurun, headed by guitarist and songwriter Dina Indrasafitri.

The Rangers will also be playing on the 15 July at the Unicorn Shed.

Keen to hear what’s in store?

Fortunately the Ranger boys were able to put together enough pennies to record a short (but exciting) EP titled Out on the Range that can be purchased and listened to on Bandcamp.
