The NSW Waratahs has welcomed Lord Howe Island Distilling Co on board as the official Gin and Vodka partner of the NSW Waratahs.

Lord Howe Island Distilling Co started by two mates, Anthony Riddle and Christian Young, are celebrating the companies’ achievements and are excited to see their award-winning spirits both on the national and international stage. Their very popular Lord Howe Island Gin made with botanicals from the UNESCO World Heritage Island, is a boutique, small batch world class drop.

Christian Young, Co-Founder of Lord Howe Island Distilling Co says, “Anthony and I are thrilled to be partnering with the NSW Waratahs as we are both long-time supporters and fans. We are looking forward to being part of the journey as they grow in the new Super Rugby competition and we are particularly excited about supporting Waratahs Women in the ‘Super W’ as their competition expands and flourishes in the coming years”.

The three-year partnership will also see Lord Howe Island Distilling Co’s products feature at Waratahs home fixtures at Leichhardt Oval in 2022, with a special marquee set up on the iconic hill for fans to sample their award-winning spirits and pre-mixed ready to drink cans on game days.

As part of the partnership, the NSW Waratahs have also committed to player appearances and Development Officer coaching clinics on the stunning Lord Howe Island.

Anthony Riddle, Co-Founder of LHI Distilling Co. and a 6th generation Lord Howe Islander, has been a long-time supporter of both elite and grassroots sport in Australia. Riddle understands how positive this opportunity is to the remote community. Riddle said “The Island community are enthused to be included in the partnership with the Waratahs Rugby Club. We are very community focussed on the island working together as part of the tourism industry with the many guesthouses, tour operators, restaurants, clubs and the shopping sector. We are all looking forward to business recovery on the island following the impact of Covid-19”.

NSW Waratahs CEO Paul Doorn said “We are delighted to welcome Lord Howe Island Distilling Co as our Gin and Vodka partner for the next three years and are excited for our players and Development Officers to connect with the community on the island and share our love of rugby.”

The partnership is very timely with the wonderful news of the recently approved development application for a Distillery on Lord Howe Island. LHI Distilling Co has confirmed that a Gin School will soon be up and running so that visitors can learn all about the local spirit and enjoy a tasting class as part of the holiday experience on the UNESCO World Heritage Listed Island.

With the expansion of their product range and having just put down their first barrel of whiskey on the island, 2022 is shaping up to be a very good year for LHI Distilling Co.
