After a Covid induced hiatus the Milton Show, the 152nd, is back! This year’s theme is Pigs, Pumpkins and Ponies.

There is excitement in the air, with preparations for the show well underway. Show President, Ken Leslie, reports that, despite having to cancel last year’s show due to the COVID pandemic, the enquiries and entries for this year’s show are coming in and people are keen to get involved.

‘Visitors will be entertained for hours with everything from the exciting equestrian events, farmyard animals, Grand Parade, and the popular show bar which will be hosting readings of original Australian Poetry with award winning poet John Davis’, Ken said.

‘After the show, we always receive lots of heartwarming comments from visitors and locals regarding the spirited, warm and friendly atmosphere of the show. Many exhibit pleasant surprise at the diversity of attractions and activities which our region has to offer.’

There will be lots of entertainment including local entertainers, local bands and an open mike session to highlight lots of local talent for which entries are encouraged.

There will be lots of show food, rides and games for all to enjoy.

The hundreds of exhibits in the main pavilions is a major attraction and always very popular. Exhibits ranging from the colourful, creative and amusing school posters through to cooking, floral, needlework, art , fashion, photography and of, course, the very competitive Pumpkins!

Call for volunteers

Show Society Ken Leslie says the volunteer Show Society Committee is working overtime, as always, but urgently requires assistance.

One of the main areas in need of assistance is the setting up of the pavilions, one of the show’s biggest drawcards.

Jim Myson, Chief Steward of the Pavilion says, ‘It is exciting to have so many wonderful exhibits this year, and we encourage more exhibitors to attend. However, setting up the displays becomes a bigger job every year, and more hands would be a great help in the week leading up to the show’.

Jim encourages anyone who has some time and would like to contribute to the success of the 152nd show to please give him a ring on 0457 346 283.

Another group needing new members is the Ladies Auxiliary. This is a great opportunity to join up with this group of local ladies who just keep everything moving smoothly. Now in its 91st year, the auxiliary is a huge contributor to the community throughout the year. The Auxiliary enjoys organising various fundraisers to assist the needy in the Milton community.

Tickets

This year ticket sales are available online at 123TIX, this is a very simple system and will avoid the delays at the entry gate.

Parking

Another important service is the parking. Visitors can park at the Milton Pony Club in Matron Porter Drive and get the shuttle bus to and from the showground.
