Roma Turf Club, Media Release, 25 October 2021
Picturesque Bassett Park will be abuzz with activity when the Royal on 99 Roma Cup races take place on Saturday November 20, 2021.
Thousands of racegoers are expected to turn out in Roma to soak up the incredible atmosphere provided by the race program. Once again, the Fashions on the Field competition and live entertainment will add to the fun atmosphere. Fashions on the Field are part of the Racing Queensland Fashions from Afar program. The male and female finalists from the Roma Cup will be eligible to compete in the Brisbane competition in early December
Big prizemoney, in excess of $183,000, is on offer during this TAB meeting, and bush horses as well as those further east wanting to have a run will be filling the fields.
The Roma Cup is a great bush event encouraging those in the west of the state to catch up with old friends and spend some time in the Roma community. This helps the region to remain vibrant, to receive an economic boost and thrive on the injected energy of this exciting social event.
Roma Turf Club has always understood and promoted the social value of bush racing providing a welcome break for those in more isolated situations. It also contributes to the sustainability of an industry in regional Queensland that supports not only the local communities but also the bigger industry of racing in Australia, offering entry-level participation and excitement not necessarily available in the city.
The Bassett Park gates will open at 11am. Fashions on the Field entrants will be displaying their finery from midday onwards. Free buses will run all day on Saturday from 10.30 am til late, picking up and delivering back to all accommodation places around town.
This year there will be no camping facilities available at Bassett Park. Contact the Roma Visitor Information Centre for accommodation options on (07) 4622 8676.
Numbers for attendance will be capped so get in early and secure your ticket. Tickets are available online at www.romaturfclub.com.au
