Gingin trainer Sue Olive says her plan is for Mystical View to go the Black Hart Bart Stakes in a fortnight after tackling the Seacorp Handicap (1200m) at Belmont Park tomorrow.

In what was Mystical View’s first start with Olive as her trainer the four-year-old mare lost to Spin The Knife by a head in the Furphy Handicap (1000m) last Saturday.

But Olive said she thought Mystical View would have won if she had not been held up during the race.

Tomorrow Mystical View has drawn barrier eight with jockey Clint Johnston-Porter to retain the ride.

Olive said the wider barrier could be an issue but it would depend on the pace in the race.

Gold Front Thoroughbred Breeding & Racing have owned Mystical View for less than four months after buying her at the Magic Millions winter sale.

Her two wins were at 1000m in 2020 but she was also second in the Listed Belgravia (1200m) in October and third in the Listed Placid Ark (1200m) in November.

Olive said after the Black Hart Bart they would gauge her next start from there.

In May stewards commented on the behaviour of the daughter of Canford Cliffs and Mystical Miss after she attempted to buck shortly after the start in a 1100m handicap.

But on Saturday she was well-behaved in the mounting yard as well as during the race.

“She was perfect for us, she didn’t put a foot wrong, Clint was happy with her,’’ she said.

Olive said she thought Puli was the biggest challenge tomorrow because he has had six wins at that distance but said anything could happen on the day.
