Join the Southbrook endurance ride

The Toowoomba Endurance Horse Riders Association (TEHRA) is encouraging local horse riders to try the sport of endurance riding for the first time. TEHRA is an affiliated club of the Queensland Endurance Riders Association (QERA), and the Southbrook ride is one of the earliest events on the endurance calendar each season.

International judges assess heavy horse breeds at annual festival

The National Clydesdale and Heavy Horse Festival has once again shaken the earth at Werribee as the world’s much-loved working breeds were shown off in hand, under saddle and in harness. Organisers this year welcomed Canadian judges Ray and Amber McLaughlin to officiate, with Amber judging the led Clydesdales/Shires and Ray the harness with Peter Strafford.

Kaniva Pink Stumps Day

Kaniva Cricket Club donned pink on Saturday to raise funds for breast cancer support through the McGrath Foundation, marking the event's third year in Kaniva. A crowd of close to 80 people came along to cheer on the team and help raise funds for the cause. Club representative Jock Maddern said $5,033 was raised on the day.

Committee to support reopening of recreational demersal fishing: Jarvis

A new advisory committee has been established to support the reopening of boat-based recreational demersal fishing from Kalbarri to Augusta in Spring 2027. The West Coast Demersal Ministerial Advisory Committee will provide recommendations to the State Government on the future management of recreational fishing to balance a return to boat-based fishing with continued protection for fish stocks to support recovery.

Largest Country Week tournament brings major economic win for Greater Shepparton

West Coast fishing ban causes south coast congestion

Warren Blackwood MLA Bevan Eatts has accused the State Government of rushing the demersal fishing ban and causing a sharp rise in boat traffic on the South Coast. He says that boat ramps are overcrowded, tourism infrastructure under strain and there is no support in sight. Since the closure of key recreational and commercial fishing areas, there has been daily congestion at Windy Harbour, Walpole, Peaceful Bay and Denmark.
