Chosen to lead the mixed junior team at the national championships from the 22 through to 28 June this year, with a costly trip ahead of her, Piper Mortimer and her family are looking for sponsors to enable her to get there.
After five years of playing polo, Piper is on her way to something special.
Having won the best junior player at the Queensland Junior Polocrosse awards in 2024, that same year she played in a Queensland Development side which faced teams from New Zealand and the United States of America.
Piper is in her last year of Juniors, next year she’ll be going up to the Under 21 division.
Her eyes are set on the competition in Darwin, but she’ll need some help to get there.
Piper’s mum Leah Mortimer told On Our Selection News about how the sponsorship would be a two way street.
“I am new to any form of sponsorship but do not want this to look like just a one way deal with no benefit to your business,” she said.
“In return we can promote your business by way of signage on the truck and equipment, clothing, logo embroidery on horse rugs, saddle cloths, tack bags – we are happy to cover the cost of any embroidery etc. – and general word of mouth.”
Over 180 people will be going up to Darwin, as part of the Queensland team.
These include trainers, managers, coaches and support staff.
Piper will be taking up three horses herself.
It’s a huge undertaking for the family, let alone Piper.
There’ll be six carnivals prior to the Nationals in Darwin.
The carnivals will be held from Inverell to Wandoan.
Anyone interested in sponsoring Piper for the 2026 Nationals in Darwin can contact her Mum Leah on 0488 222 635.
