Women step up in Lutheran Church

Our pets are a blessing

People love their pets, and although most will agree their furry, feathered or scaled companion is already a blessing in itself, the Donald Anglican church held a blessing of the animals service ... Rev Judi Bird conducted the service, demonstrating the Lord's love for “all creatures great and small” with many beloved little critters in attendance, including budgies, dogs and even a guinea pig.

Induction of Reverend Rudi Schwartz

Vital services continue for vulnerable women

Spiritual cleansing for  Wallaroo Hospital

An Aboriginal traditional healer has performed a spiritual cleansing at Wallaroo Hospital after Indigenous patients reported feeling uncomfortable while receiving health services there. The Yorke and Northern Local Health Network invited traditional healer, or Ngangkari, Debbie Watson, from the APY Lands in northern South Australia, to help cleanse Wallaroo Hospital and the Wallaroo Community Health Building last week.

1883 – 2024 St James Anglican Church closes its doors

141 years after being built, and 80 years and one week after being first consecrated (that is a separate story) Bishop for the Riverina Don Kirk undertook the solemn duty of deconsecrating St James Church ... "We pray that they will be comforted by the knowledge that the presence of God is not tied to any place or building": Bishop Kirk.

Church centenary is approaching

The community is invited to a service at 11am on Sunday July 14th to commemorate the centenary of the Cudgewa Holy Trinity Anglican Church. The service will be officiated by Bishop Clarence Bester from the Wangaratta Diocese and followed by a luncheon in the Cudgewa Hall.

On Sunday evening, June 9, the group known as ‘Allora Churches Together’ assembled at St. David’s Anglican Church for a candlelight vigil to acknowledge and support sufferers of domestic and family violence and to lament the environment that had permitted it to happen.

The close of an era – Cambooya Uniting Church’s final service

There was not a spare seat in sight for the closure service of the Cambooya Uniting Church ... over 70 people filled the church, to hear the Passion of Christ and give thanks for this tiny church’s contribution to Cambooya and the surrounding districts ... Rev. John said there was no more appropriate day in the Christian Calendar than Good Friday to allow ourselves to grieve.

Open air, blue sky combined church service

It was ‘community’ on display for all to enjoy – the Maldon churches combined to come together as one to host the Beehive Chimney Good Friday Service.

Church reaches milestone

A decade ago the future of the Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Cudgewa looked bleak. The floor was riddled with white ants and the inside was in great need of patching and painting. Much discussion was held on whether it would remain open considering the nature of the repairs needed and dwindling church attendance.

Thanks for the ice cream

The "Wonderland Walk" is short but steep in places and for many of us the best way to  recover and relax after walking to the Pinnacle is to visit  the nearby Halls Gap ice  creamery next to Stony Creek ... Thinking of "ice cream" and "grateful thanks" reminds me of an old story told by a dad who said, "Last week, I  took my children to a restaurant.

Church closing its doors

After 117 years of worship, Cambooya Uniting Church will be holding its final service on Good Friday, 29 March 2024.The service begins at 3pm and combines the Good Friday service with a special service to mark the closure of the congregation.

News from Kaniva & Serviceton Shared Ministry

The Shared Ministry agreement between the Church of Christ and Uniting Church has been running for 25 years and was established to help fund a Minister who would be responsible for the congregations at Kaniva and Serviceton, whilst still retaining their own identity, buildings and control of financial matters. One of the findings from the review focused on the fact that our congregations in both towns are made up of a number of people from denominations other than C of C and UCA ...
