Pittsworth craft, food event to highlight town

The 17th Pittsworth Craft & Fine Food Spectacular this Friday, October 7 and Saturday, October 8, promises to shine a light on the town and surrounding district. Almost 50 stall holders will set up a colourful array of displays in the town hall for both days, with still more outside in Centenary Park.

Quilters raise funds for Emerge

Toowoomba Quilters Club is taking its needlework in a new direction by raising money for Emerge Youth Services. At the Launch of the Club’s annual Charity Art Union, Toowoomba Quilters Club members heard about Emerge Youth Services from the organisation’s passionate CEO and Founder, Jen Shaw.

Indigenous artists weave stories into exhibits at Crows Nest Gallery

Artworks from three Indigenous artists are featured in the latest exhibition, Our Stories, Our Culture, Our Country, which is on display at Crows Nest Gallery until September 18, 2022. The exhibition explores narratives relating to spiritual connectivity, place-making, traditional knowledge, healing and teachings of the participating artists, Cheryl Moggs (from the Bigambul First Nation people), Barbara Walker (from the Wiradjuri First Nation people) and Aaron Blades (from the Mandandanji First Nation people).

BRA will light up for an evening of poetry, music, circus and dance featuring acts by Kasey Chambers, Olive Knight and many more artists.

CWA ladies learn the art of resin pouring

There was creativity on display at the CWA Hall recently as two separate groups participated in Resin Pouring workshops led by Craig Eibeck, who came up from Alice Springs to introduce the techniques of resin pouring.

Lost weaving practice is brought back to life for popular art fair

Samuel Davis. A grandmother's tale has linked past-to-present and revived a traditional weaving practice lost decades ago in western Cape York ... Inspired by their find, Luanna and Daphne are now sharing the practice with other artists in the region as well. The duo’s weavings have culminated with works Woven in Time and They Journey being exhibited at the Cairns Indigenous Art Fair last week.

The art of beanie crafting comes to Tennant Creek

With the Alice Springs Beanie Festival coming up at the end of the month, a craftsperson visited Tennant Creek to hold felting workshops to allow Territorians who do not live in Alice Springs to make beanies to enter in the Festival ... Paterson St Hub was open ... for the public to come along and learn felting skills and give making a beanie a go.

Maldon Village Quilters

D Buck. The Maldon Village Quilters group has a history spanning decades and continues to thrive ... at the request of Maldon Hospital, we made and donated two quilts to be used for palliative care patients, and have made three Healing Quilts for members facing serious illness as well as one for another much loved member of the Maldon community.  Some of our members also make Hero Quilts for Australian service personnel, especially those serving abroad, and others make caring quilts for neonatal units and other worthy causes.
