Induro brings home the ribbons

Recent stories

Wakool Sheep Stud Induro White Suffolks has had a great showing at the 2025 Hamilton Sheepvention with wins across the board with their White Suffolks and also in Hamilton’s inaugural Ultra White showing. Induro stud owner Guy Treweek said it was a very successful event as they warm up for the year’s bigger shows.

“We took 16 sheep down there, 14 White Suffolks and two Ultra Whites”

“Every sheep got a ribbon. We ended up with about five firsts throughout the day, but the highlights were probably Reserve Senior Champion Ram and then first winning the Lamb Plan Class for White Suffolks, and then winning Lamb Plan across all the interbreeds sections.”

The lamb plan uses a point scoring system to evaluate the structure and data from the animals and use a formula to calculate the winner.

“They used a new formula for this year’s Lamb Plan. I took those two rams as an experiment, and it worked out well.” said Guy.

Guy said he feels fortunate for the season they’ve had, as they look ahead to this year’s sale of the 300 rams on offer.

“We’ve been pretty lucky. Every bit of rain that came from the north, got to Wakool and didn’t get much further, and the ones that came from the south got to Wakool and didn’t get much further. We’ve got enough little bits and pieces that we’re doing well. It’s not a booming year but we’re probably better than most areas you see when you go for a drive.”
