History of YoungCare in Queensland

Recent stories

Local identity Daphne Whatley attended a YoungCare function in Brisbane at the weekend, where she was guest speaker.

Daphne has been involved in YoungCare since it started in Queensland 20 years ago.

During that time Allora has been raising money for YoungCare.

For years Allora held afternoon teas until they started the Op Shop. Matthew Lawson and his boys and parents attended the afternoon teas every year. An annual raffle is held with tickets sold in Allora and Warwick and money is given to Double Giving Day.

In 2011 Daphne helped to set up the start of YoungCare in Sydney. The launch was held in Martin Place.

After the launch in 2011, the first facility in New South was opened at Jordan Springs in the Blue Mountains that year. Photos Daphne has taken have been enlarged and laminated to go into a Time Capsule in Brisbane.
