Another NAB branch bites the dust

Recent stories

Local readers who may have been used to ducking across to Pittsworth to use the services of NAB will have to change their ways from today (Thursday).

The Pittsworth branch of NAB has closed permanently.

The closure comes despite a strongly supported petition organised by the Federal Member for Groom, Garth Hamilton as well as a personal letter from Mr Hamilton to the CEO of the Bank.

(At the time of writing this report, Mr Hamilton had not received reply to that letter.)

The reasons for closing the branch were similar to those NAB offered for closing a multitude of country branches across Australia.

This included closures at Oakey and Clifton in recent years.

“More and more, our customers are choosing to do their banking online, over the phone, or by video conference,” NAB said.

“Because of these changes, we’ve made the difficult decision to close our NAB Pittsworth branch at 75 Yandilla Street, Pittsworth QLD 4356 on Thursday, 18 April 2024.”

NAB claimed that approximately 61 per cent of its customers in Pittsworth have only visited the branch once in the last year.

It said more than 69 per cent of customers were also using other locations.
