Lowana donates to local groups

Recent stories

Nhill’s local craft, home made and home grown shop, Lowana donated $3,000.00 to local volunteer groups following their March meeting.

Nhill Lake Committee received $1,000.00 to be used to install interpretive signs at Nhill Lake. Nhill Early Learning Centre Parent Advisory Group will use their $1,000.00 donation to upgrade equipment and replace bark chips with soft-fall surfaces at the Early Learning Centre and the Nhill Branch of the Country Women’s Association (CWA) received $1,000.00 donation towards repairs and upgrades to the CWA building.

As Lowana is a not-for-profit entity, these donations are some of the largest made in recent years and represent just some of the changes happening at 42 Victoria St, Nhill. Lowana has a new name; Lowana Crafts Inc, reflecting its new status as an incorporated association. This new name will be for official use only and the business will continue to be known variously as Lowana, the craft shop, the home made food place, and of course, Auntie Lowana.

Much-needed guttering and roofing repairs have been completed, and the faithful 2-door savouries fridge has been upgraded to a larger 3-door fridge. Next time you are in Lowana check out the savoury fridge and you might find something tasty to tempt the taste buds like sausage rolls, quiche, zucchini slices, savoury scrolls, and savoury muffins just to name a few.

As the evenings have started to cool down and the mornings are quite fresh why not come into Lowana and check out the latest in hand made crocheted rugs or quilts to keep you warm. Remember to keep an eye out on Facebook as it is updated on a regular basis with the latest plants and craft items that hit the shelf as well as the tasty sweet treats and savouries.

Lowana is always looking for new volunteers and helpers. There are various ways to help. Regular volunteers are needed to work behind the counter and suppliers of craft items are always needed, especially for home cooked food. If your items are Home Grown, Hand Crafted or Home Cooked and you would like to join a great little shop, feel free to collect an application form from Lowana. Completed forms and a sample of products need to be submitted to the monthly meeting for consideration. Meetings are held on the 2nd Monday of each month, except January. If that Monday is a Public Holiday then the committee meeting will be held on the next business day. If you require further information please contact President Michelle Allen on 0402 046 842 who will be more than happy to assist you with your enquiries.
