“In the Mood” to “Boogie Woogie”?

Recent stories

The Pacific Belles will perform at the Nhill Airshow on April 13. Swing to their dulcet tones as they sing these war-time classics. Their vintage repertoire includes songs like “Don’t sit under the Apple Tree” and “We’ll Meet Again.”

The Pacific Belles are Australia’s hottest retro-style singing trio, inspired by the music of the 1940‘s and have been referred to as “Melbourne’s very own Andrew Sisters’.

They’ve appeared on many of our TV stations including Channel Nine News where they sang for the Sailors of the USS LASSEN, many of our radio stations featured them on programs like the Glen Ridges Radio show and the Belles were honoured to be asked to sing for 774‘s Live broadcast at the Shrine of Remembrance on Anzac Day 2013.

As popular artists they have appeared in numerous magazines, played to sell out performances in Adelaide and Melbourne, entertained on Cruise ships and performed at various Clubs and Events, even aboard the Gooney Bird.

They were invited to represent Australia in The World Championships of Performing Arts 2014 and have released a single called “If you want a Happy Christmas”.

You can enjoy their sweet swing music at the Nhill Airshow on April 13th along with our local band who have become a bit of a regular at our Airshows.

The Nhill Dimboola Brass Band is a locally based band with members ranging from teens to those in their 80s, brought together by their love of music and community playing at various events in Nhill, Jeparit, Horsham and surrounds.

The band members love to entertain their audience and enjoy the friendships formed whilst playing music with like-minded people, whether it’s Marches, Musicals or Pop.

Music was a large part of life at the Training School here in Nhill during the war years, there were concerts and of course the dances. A local family, Steve, Dora, Joan, Shirley and Jack Webb, gave of their time and musical talent to entertain and provide music for the dances that were so popular with the military and civilians alike.

At the NAHC you can read a lovely letter sent home by one of the female trainees to her mother telling of how friendly the people were here in Nhill and how much she enjoyed the dances.

So when you’re out at the Aerodrome enjoying the excitement of the planes and the many ground displays at the Airshow, stop a moment to sit a while and take in the music of the era.
