Charlies Surf School for West Wimmera youth

Recent stories

A visit to the beach is not something that happens everyday for many of the young people in West Wimmera.

For most it is around a 2 hour drive to the nearest beach.

When there was an opportunity to learn how to surf, 13 young people from West Wimmera took advantage of the lessons on offer from Charlies Surf School, Robe. With some already on holidays there, and some travelling by bus from Kaniva, it was a fun few hours to learn new skills and practice them, with all equipment supplied.

The lessons were subsidised by the State Government of Victoria’s FReeZA program which encourages young people between the ages of 12 -25 to participate in supervised, alcohol, drug, smoke and vape free events, programs and activities.
